Meet the friendly doctors at Deschutes Animal Clinic!

  • Andrew Hendershot
    D.V.M.

    Dr. Hendershot earned a degree in biology from the University of California Santa Cruz in 2006, and he then moved to London, United Kingdom, to attend the Royal Veterinary College at the University of London, where he obtained a degree in veterinary medicine.

    Dr. Hendershot met his wife, Sarah in vet school and he ended up practicing in England for a few years before moving back to the USA. He enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but he has a particular interest in surgery.

    In his spare time, Dr. Hendershot enjoys spending time with his family, which includes his daughter Chloe, a Border Collie named Phoebe, and a Terrier cross named Joey. His hobbies include hiking and camping, golf, and photography.

  • Kristin Ripka
    D.V.M.

    Kristin Ripka, DVM - Attended Washington State University for both undergraduate work and veterinary medicine. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2009, and started working at Deschutes shortly thereafter. Forming strong, long-term bonds with her clients and their pets as a general practitioner has been her life-long dream.

  • Justin Ripka
    D.V.M

    Justin Ripka joined Deschutes Animal Clinic in the fall of 2017. He attended Washington State University for both his undergraduate studies as well as for his veterinary education. This is where he met and wooed his future wife (the other Dr. Ripka!) and he is very excited to be able to work with her now. In 2009 he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and began to work in Chehalis shortly afterwards for over 8 years until he started with Deschutes Animal Clinic.

    Dr. French is another Washington State University Graduate, Go Cougs! Yelm has always been her home so it was natural that she join our hospital in 2010. Dr. French loves all her animals, consists of 2 cats, 4 dogs and 2 horses. Her husband owns his own small business in excavation. Dr. French rarely has an actual day off as she cares for her patients so much she is always coming by the Hospital to check in on them!

  • Catherine Van Dusen
    D.V.M

    Dr. Van Dusen is the newest Doctor to join our growing practice, and she brings with her some of the newest medicine Washington State University has to offer. Although she currently has no pets of her own, she enjoys fostering rescue animals that later will be adopted to their forever home!
